Tuesday Tip: HDEAA Critical Path

Each year the HDSB uses a critical path method to identify Collective Agreement steps that must be completed for the school year. These staffing actions are to be completed by specific dates as outlined in the path.

Important upcoming dates according to our CRITICAL PATH:

March 28: look for the Voluntary Transfer Process Application to be posted to HDSB EA Talk

April 15: Volunteer Transfer request forms due to the Manager of HR

Prior to June 1: If a members request is successfully matched, the member will be contacted by HR to confirm their acceptance of that location for the following school year.

April 1: EAs on full year leave of absence (LOA) must send their intent-to- return for the following school year in writing (addressed to the Manager of HR)

April 15: final date for permanent EAs to submit a written request to the Manager of HR for a full year LOA (you can request a 0.5 or 1.0 LOA)

April 30: retirement and resignation letters effective June 30 are to be submitted to the Manger of HR. Please note the HDSB will accept these at other times as well.

April 30: HDSB establishes EA FTE allocations for the following school year

May 15: projected/ estimated allocations are given to School Admin and HDEAA

May 24: Principal or Supervisor to notify EA staff of hours available for next school year and surplus by this date

June 3-28: HDSB second release of allocations

August 15-September 3: HDSB third release balance of positions from initial allocation

May 31: Posting process starts

June 21: Posting process stops

August 15: Posting process restarts

August 15: EA vacancies created before August 24 will be posted

End of August: surplus placement process
